Yeah I really prefer to work with the plugin. I have the API but have not really used it at all. I think I may have seen some discussion in the PHPBay forums about calling the PHPBay tag from a php command, but I really can't say for sure. I would definitely check there for more information.

The slight limitation with API is it doesn't have all the functions of the Wordpress plugin - you have to program them into the API version yourself.

The plugin has 16 parameters while the API only has 6, so it lacks control over minimum price, maximum price, minimum bids, etc. unless, as mentioned before you write that functionality yourself.

I don't believe you can with PHPBay for Wordpress, however if you get the bundle that includes the PHPBay API you should be able to do it.

hey there,

is it possible to call the auctions outside a post with a php command instead of the [phpbay] command.

It's the only point I need to be sure before buying it.

Thanks

Interesting point Jay. I've never heard that before, but it could be possible. If that is in fact the case, you could still use alternative methods of displaying the ebay logo. A great example is this site: http://buydiscountgolfballs.com/ (Not my site) - he has the ebay logo incorporated into his header .

I was under the impression that it was in epn's TOS that visitors know they were going to be redirected to ebay and that a logo needed to be displayed? Which is why I have an ebay logo above each auction page.

More good advice and "how-to" stuff for us all. I use the phpBay Pro plugin and have a number of sites. Yet looking through the process and thinking behind how you do this made me re-evaluate some things I want to do differently on my sites. I've especially always struggled with whether or not to set up paging. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that.

Now I think I need to go back and redo a bunch of stuff on a couple of sites regarding the paging setup!
