As promised, today I’m releasing WP Presstige totally free. Like WP Pressident, this is one of my earliest attempts at a free premium WordPress theme, and it’s both basic and versatile. I use this theme for a variety of personal blogs. Changing the color scheme is easy, and with a custom header you can make this theme look unique no matter how many times you use it.
Features
6 widget ready sidebar positions
solid web 2.0 look and feel
customizable header graphic with PSD included
built in ad space

Thanks for adding another great new theme to my site.
Sorry Sam,
I managed finally to download, but a bit surprised. In appearance it looks good, but it is not WP2.7 compatible. Choosing the theme, it does not appear as a “preview”. But more serious all configurations of your options have to be done manually !! compare with a theme like MistyLook or Nigarila where all options are available in the WP admin !!
Thanks for your attention
M
Hey Look. It’s great ! The WP Presstige is Premium WordPress theme that Free ! Thanks
Great theme it is exactly what I am looking for.
File is not extracting on in hosting panel
(host gator) it says error on page.
Martin, thanks for the comment. Now that WordPress 2.7 is officially available, I will be making sure all of my themes are fully compatible. As far as options within the Admin panel, I’m not really sure what you’re referring to. Please specify and I’ll see if I can help you out.
Ron, I would recommend downloading the file to your desktop and extract the files there. Then copy them to your server and upload to the /themes/ folder. It should work perfectly that way.
What part of the server does it get copied to?
You’ll want to open up your FTP client and find the root directory of your blog. Then open the folder and find the “wp-content” folder. Open that folder and find the “themes” folder. Open the “themes” folder and copy the WP Presstige folder from your desktop. Upload the files and you should be able to select the new theme in the admin area.
Thank you Sam That worked.
Awesome, glad I could help!
In the header ad space where do I put the banner html in the theme editor
In the file header.php find this line of code:
replace it with the code for your ad.
Also, I think I am going to make that ad space at the top into a widgetized sidebar and re-package the theme. I’ve had some other questions about that as well and I think this may be the easiest way.
Thank you for your prompt responses it is really fantastic.
Keep up the good work.
hi sam,
i love the theme, but when i download it, all i get is the WP_Presstige.rar. file
and can’t open it. any suggestions?
cheers
nathalie
Nathalie,
I just emailed you a .zip file with the theme. Some people may encounter problems when trying to open .rar files. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you.
thank you so much, sam. are you on twitter?
cheers
nathalie
well, i didnt expect to be writing back quite so soon, but…
i unzipped the file, uploaded it, and when i try to activate it thru wordpress, no image appears for me to verify that i want to make the change. cheers in advance!
Yeah, I’m familiar with that problem. It’s only a problem with the preview, so it won’t in any way effect the performance of the theme. I should have that bug worked out within the week.
My twitter is twitter.com/lewmaster. It’s brand new, but I’ll be doing a lot more with that now as well.
got it! oh man, i cant even imagine what happened when i changed themes…everything was a disaster. if you get a mo, let me know to change it back to your theme and maybe u could have a look at it?
cheers
It won’t look good until you set the sidebars. because there’s 6 sidebar positions, your sidebar configuration from the previous theme you were using probably won’t be compatible with the 6 sidebar version. The main thing you need to do is add a widget to each of the two top sidebars. I like to use the recent posts and recent comments widgets up there. You can also just put text widgets into the footer as a temporary placeholder until you get them set with the actual widgets you want to use.
ahhh, ty i will play with it a bit.
one more question
if i go in, change to ur theme, and edit the sidebars, will i be able to revert back to my existing theme if it doesnt look right?
cheers
Of course! You may need to modify the sidebars again when you switch back to your previous theme, but in most cases it should be a piece of cake.
k, it’s going pretty well. only the nav links at very top of page are messed up…seems to have added all of my pages instead of a select few. how can i change it so that i have only 5 up there? hugs for all the help and the great theme.
ok great question. This can be a little sticky. What you need to do is edit a line of code in the header to specify specific page IDs to include. I will create a blog post about this right now because I will need to show several graphics so you can see what you need to do.
im very comfortable with editing code, so i will look for your blog. cheers
hi sam,
i’m thinking of upgrading to wp 2.7, are there any issues with presstige that i should be aware of before the upgrade?
cheers
nathalie
where can i find out more information on editing this theme?
i am new to wordpress in general.
also i want to know how to make the url’s (link) seo friendly
where can i find out more information on editing this theme?
also i want to make all links seo friendly
Hi Carlos,
If you want to make the links SEO friendly, go into settings – > permalinks and change your permalink structure to custom and use this code: /%postname%/. This should work automatically, but in some cases you may need to update your .htaccess file.
If you have any specific questions on editing the theme, fire away and I’ll be happy to help.
